Our Beginnings

Our MK Musang King Premium Mao Shan Wang durians are from the famed Pahang Bentong Highland Hill Top plantations! Thanks to its hilly terrain, natural elevation, fertile soils with the right amounts of rainfall, durians yielded from this region are extremely flavorful and have the perfect balance of creamy & bitter sweetness.

Yielded from mature durians that naturally drop (instead of forcefully farmed!), our durians are day-fresh, handpicked, de-husked and personally packed by Mr Eddie Kok our expert durian farmer with decades of experience.

They are known to be a very rare durian variety as few breeds can survive the high-altitude environment. Compared to other durians, our Premium Pahang Bentong Highland Hill-Top Mao Shan Wang yields a higher meat-to-seed ratio, making it greatly loved by many durian lovers for its abundance of flesh.

Durian Myths About Mao Shan Wang Durian

Myth Busted: Mao Shan Wang Durians and Seed Size Explained

Mao Shan Wang durians are known for their small seeds, but it's normal for durian trees to produce both big and small seeds. The seed size is influenced by the amount of fertilizer a fruit absorbs. Importantly, the seed size doesn't impact the taste and texture of the durian flesh. When buying from MK Musang King Durian, there's no need to worry!

Myth Busted: Durian Husk Color and Tree Age - The Truth Revealed!

Contrary to popular belief, both young and old durian trees can produce fruits with green and grey husks. The husk color is influenced by weather and sunlight exposure, not tree age. Weather variations can cause trees to drop unripe or improperly ripened durians. At MK Musang King, though our plantation is at hill-top highland Bentong Pahang, we prioritize quality and ensure only the best durians are packed for delivery, avoiding sub-par fruits. This is our commitment to delivering top-quality durians.

Myth Debunked: Wang Zhong Wang and Black Gold vs. Mao Shan Wang: Which Tastes Better?

Heard that Wang Zhong Wang and Black Gold taste better than Mao Shan Wang? Here's a secret: these names are just fancy marketing terms for the King of Durian! All these variations are actually Mao Shan Wang, registered as D197. Don’t be misled by marketing speak. At MK Musang King, we believe in transparency and call it like it is: MSW is MSW. Different names, same delicious taste!

Is durian really the "king of fruits"?

Yes, durian is often referred to as the "king of fruits" due to its large size, unique flavor, and cultural significance in Southeast Asia.

Myth Debunked: A-Grade Durian Preference: Does it Taste Better than B-Grade?3.5

Looking for A-grade durians over B-grade for better taste? Contrary to popular belief, durian grading is based on weight and shape, not taste. A-grade durians typically weigh above 1.4kg and offer higher yield, but the price already reflects this difference. At MK Musang King, there's no taste difference between A-grade and B-grade durians.

Myth Busted: Why does durian smell so strong?

Durian’s strong smell comes from its complex mix of sulfur compounds, which are highly volatile and potent.

Can durian be eaten every day?

While durian is nutritious, it is also high in calories and should be consumed in moderation. Daily consumption might not be advisable for everyone, especially those with dietary restrictions.

How can I reduce the smell of durian in my home?

To reduce the smell, store durian in airtight containers and keep them in the refrigerator. Using air purifiers and natural odor absorbers like baking soda can also help.
